Recover code repository in Github? -

i inherited project used setup github version control. however, due lack of communication original developer, i'm left code base lives on production. question have if it's possible recover code repo in github given have .git folder contains git related files?

if there's existing .git folder, it's existing git repository. follow instructions adding existing project github , way.
